site is a script that I created for this very webpage. (The navigation on the left and the positionbar at the top were inserted with site, for instance). This script is discontinued by now. On Windows, use dSite instead. Since my first web server did not allow scripting or SSI, I had to manually maintain the navigation, which is quite hard. So I created site to assist me.
- valid XHTML 1.1 output
- you can use your own files as templates and only include the navigation via site
- needs Perl and runs under Linux (should be possible to run it on Windows as well, if you adapt the path delimiters).
- You should be able to write HTML/CSS yourself
An example showing all features of site as well as a README comes within the tarball.
I used site quite a long time, but starting with dSite v0.6, I was able to switch to dSite. I'd have done that before, if I only had the energy to make them command compatible — which they still aren't. One version just had the conversion functions implemented.
